Historical Relevance of the site
This house was built by Don Tomás López de Ecala, This House caused controversy because Don Tomás built his house 16.5 inch further ahead than its neighbor Don Domingo's. This made derived a duel architectural for show who of them could look a best facade, at the end, Don Tomás was the winner, but both had that pay a fine of 54,000 reales by exceed its limit of land towards the "Plaza Mayor", today called "Plaza de Armas".
Architectural Style and Epoch
The facade of the Ecala's House is the more beautiful that we can find in the city. Its facade is a masterful work in Quarry which highlights the great arches on the ground floor and the upper balconies, whose wrought-iron railings resemble fine calligraphy.
Its broad gate and its beautiful arcades hold the ornamentation of the upper floor with its balconies, it has a lace that frames the Imperial Eagles, topped with a frieze of quarry and tile. In the upper part at the left there is a small curtained window that comes out of a crown indigenous formed by feathers of bird, this work was very complicated and expensive, but now we can enjoy it going for a walk "Plaza of Armas".
The auction of the balconies and the building is also of feathers, flowers, in absolute perfection and the finely worked and forged ironwork embellishes it. Another notable thing is that inside its spiral staircase that gives access to the upper part of the House.
